: Kindly Ones - missing pages!
From: John DiFool <jdifool@earthlink.net>

Weird thing I noticed about my edition of the Kindly Ones (the 1996 softcover Vertigo edition).
I got the Sandman Companion, and noticed the little b/w pic of Cluracan coughing up his nemesis. "I don't remember that..." I thought to myself when I saw it.
Went back and started thumbing through my copy, and sure enough pages 2 through 17 of issue #2 are missing! Can't return it for a refund since it has been over a year since I bought it. Anyone else note any such errors in their copies (or other copies of other collections)? Now I'll have to go track down another copy, if only to find out why and how that "talking venison" was brought into being...

Yeah, I believe that was the second printing of the original softcover.
(This is the softcover before DC adapted the standardized covers.) The entire print run was like that. Retailers were supposed to return defective copies for credit.

To confuse things, the corrected printing is also labeled Second Printing, so unless you look for the missing signature, you can't tell if you have a defective printing or not.

My info only applies to the original edition. I have no info about defects in the new standardized editions.
